Our Rooms

Caterpillars

We believe that childhood is precious, and our baby room team is dedicated to ensuring both you and your baby enjoy a happy, positive nursery experience. We operate a strong keyworker and buddy system, helping your baby form secure attachments with a consistent, caring adult who will love, nurture, and support them throughout the day. Caterpillars is our calm; sensory room designed for babies aged 3 to 18 months. Here, little ones learn through their senses and experience important early milestones—such as sitting up, crawling, and babbling—within a safe, cosy, and stimulating environment.

Ladybirds

The Ladybird room is a light; bright space designed for inquisitive two-year-olds to explore and play. We love getting messy—sand and water are available every day, and children have constant access to arts and crafts. We head outdoors in all weathers, splashing in puddles, dancing in the rain, and enjoying picnics in the sunshine.

Ladybirds operate with a ratio of one practitioner to four children. This ensures that our toddlers receive the support they need to interact with one another, take their first steps towards independence, and develop important social and self-help skills.

The Ladybird room is the perfect place for a curious toddler to grow. Here, your child will have many opportunities to build social and emotional confidence, expand their vocabulary, and begin forming sentences as they play, discover, and learn.

Pre-school

Our Pre-School room is a spacious and inspiring environment, complete with a dedicated library and quiet room where children can choose books and enjoy reading in a cosy, comfortable space. They also have their own dining area, giving them the chance to develop important life skills such as recognising portion sizes, serving themselves, and chatting with friends over meals.

By this stage, our pre-schoolers are becoming confident experts in many areas of learning, showing incredible creativity and resourcefulness both indoors and outdoors.

In Pre-School, every day is a new adventure. We have lots of fun while learning, and you can often hear us singing, dancing, and exploring together. As part of their journey towards school readiness, children take part in thoughtfully planned activities that introduce letters and numbers, encourage early literacy and mathematical understanding, and support them as they begin exploring technology in meaningful ways.

Forest school

St Werburgh's school have very kindly allowed our nursery to use their Forest School site during the week and throughout the school holidays.

Tory, our Forest School teacher, loves bringing Early Years learning into the great outdoors. The natural environment offers endless opportunities for discovery, and our children enjoy a wide range of activities—from building dens and creating clay faces to mark making in the mud. Forest School sessions give them the chance to explore, imagine, and learn through nature in a fun, hands-on way.
